The Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals include the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations to eradicate poverty, protect our planet and ensure that all people live in peace and prosperity.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) prepared by the United Nations have been a driving force to guide our sustainability efforts and have formed the basis of our sustainability strategy.

All companies within GEMA aim to adopt and expand the sustainability approach in their production activities and products in order to leave a livable world to future generations.

In this context, GEMA closely follows developments in national and international sustainability platforms.

We aim to effectively manage our social, environmental and economic impacts in all our activities.

We serve a total of 7 Sustainable Development Goals in line with the dialogues we have with our stakeholders and the global standards set by national and international industry associations:

Goal 5: Gender Equality

We support the full and effective participation of women in the decision-making processes of political, economic and social life and the guarantee of equal opportunities for women to be leaders at all levels in decision-making mechanisms, and we pay attention to equality of opportunity between men and women in all our processes.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

With the understanding of providing a safe and decent work environment, we aim to act with business processes and policies that care about human rights, occupational health and safety, and to convey this understanding to all our employees.

Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

We support innovation and innovative products for sustainable development. We invest in R&D and innovation, and aim to expand our innovative product development processes with our economic, environmental and social sustainability goals. We find innovative solutions that enable smarter and more sustainable use and management of resources and aim to keep continuous development at our center.

Goal 10: Reducing Inequalities

We adopt policies and an inclusive approach that prevent different and unfair practices due to personal characteristics and preferences such as language, religion, race, gender.

Goal 12: Responsible Production and Consumption

As GEMA Group of Companies, we support the effective use and sustainable management of natural resources within the framework of the Responsible Production and Consumption Practices we have adopted within the scope of Sustainable Development Goals. We aim to minimize carbon emissions, while maintaining high standards in the value chain in the field of Environmentally Friendly Product Development, we develop products that reduce and/or destroy the damage to the environment.

Goal 13: Climate Action

Within the scope of combating climate change, we limit the negative effects of all our activities on the environment, monitor our emission intensity, develop reduction projects, and within this scope, we invest in energy efficiency studies and new technologies.

Goal 17: Partnerships for Goals

We adopt the principles and aims of the United Nations Global Compact and try to spread it. We support public-private and civil society collaborations.
